Higgins and Eisenstein will be presenting their work and ideas in a conversational way. The audience is welcome to ask questions. (norsk tekst nederst) Where: Månefisken in Oslo When: 11th of November at 7pm Age limit: 18 y.o. (due the venue having a bar) Does it cost anything? Higgins and Eisenstein are sharing their ideas with us as a gift. If you feel like supporting their amazing work with a gift back, consider making a monetary donation after the event. POLLY HIGGINS In 2010 international barrister and award winning author Polly Higgins proposed to the United Nations that Ecocide be the 5th Crime Against Peace. Ecocide is the extensive damage to, destruction of or loss of ecosystem(s) of a given territory, whether by human agency or by other causes, to such an extent that peaceful enjoyment by the inhabitants of that territory has been or will be severely diminished. She is University of Oslo's 2013/2014 Arne Naess Chair in Global Justice and the Environment. She leads the Eradication Ecocide Global Initiative, co-founded the Earth Law Alliance and last, but not least, is a Voice for the Earth. "I'm rethinking law; my vision is a world that works from one simple overriding principle: 'first do no harm'. That is a world where people are thriving in harmony with nature. I believe in well-being for all beings... Help me End Ecocide by 2020. I have proposed that Ecocide become an international crime. With your help we can make this happen." Higgins is spending much of her time writing, speaking and advising on an international law of Ecocide. She advises at all levels; governmental, legal and non-legal. She connects with a wide-range of organisations who are working from the same premise; that it is time to say 'enough' to mass damage and destruction to the Earth. When she is not wearing her Earth law hat, she is exploring big questions, such as how to create maximum freedom for humanity to be creative from a place of love? CHARLES EISENSTEIN Charles Eisenstein is a philosopher, speaker, and writer focusing on themes of civilization, consciousness, money and human cultural evolution. His online writings have generated a vast following, he speaks frequently at conferences and other events, and gives numerous interviews on radio and podcasts. He has been called "one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time" and "young, fresh, well-informed, humble but articulate, with a very spiritual perspective." His 2011 book Sacred Economics revolves around the theme of how the current monetary system based on interest and usury, along with the abandonment of the gift economy, has led to alienation, competition and need for an economic system predicated on continuous growth. This book tracks the changes that are already taking place in our economic system, with chapters concentrating on negative interest currencies, the idea of the commons, local currency systems, the internalization of costs, resource-based economics, as well as a social dividend. "Charles Eisenstein is a visionary scholar who maps economics, science, philosophy, psychology, and the history of civilization onto our daily activities, with inquiries like, 'How should we live?' 'What's really important?' 'How can our relationship to money be transformed?' He is the author of ""The Yoga of Eating"", ""Ascent of Humanity"", and ""Sacred Economics"". Sacred Economics is Eisenstein's exploration of the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism, where he reveals how the money system has contributed to alienation, competition, and scarcity, destroyed community, and necessitated endless growth. Sacred Economics explores avant-garde concepts of the New Economics, including negative-interest currencies, local currencies, resource-based economics, gift economies, and the restoration of the commons. Author Charles Eisenstein also considers the personal dimensions of this transition, speaking to those concerned with "right livelihood" and how to live according to their ideals in a world seemingly ruled by money. Tapping into a rich lineage of conventional and unconventional economic thought, Sacred Economics presents a vision that is original yet commonsense, radical yet gentle, and increasingly relevant as the crises of our civilization deepen and we move into a new age, a new way of being with each other and our planet. Eisenstein graduated from Yale University in 1989 with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, and spent the next ten years as a Chinese-English translator. He currently lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and serves on the faculty of Goddard College. His writings on the web magazine ""Reality Sandwich"" have generated a vast online following. True to his word, he lives in a gift economy and has made available both ""Ascent of Humanity"" and ""Sacred Economics"" to read online for free!" More

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today's world. Learn more at http://www.thevenusproject.com More
